What Do You Think? The Results Are In

In March, we sent a survey out to our wonderful customers so we could find out how we are doing and to make sure we are on the right track with what we supply. In the spirit of transparency, we share your views. Below is how you scored us and what is important to you.

How you scored us and what’s important to you.

63% of respondents scored us 9 or 10 out of 10 with a further 29% scoring us at 7 or 8, and 8% at 6 or below. So, whilst we are really pleased with the result, we obviously need to do better for some of you and this feedback will help.

The feedback on what is important to you is also very clear and again will be invaluable moving forward. The number one priority is that the garments are made from recycled fabrics, closely followed by that most items are unique. In joint third place were the quality of service ( and I am really glad that’s there as we do try very hard to be good at that) and the wide choice of colours and designs.

Key themes of what you want and our responses

More style and colour options – This is something we would love to do over night but as a really young business, only in our fourth year, we have to be mindful of cashflow. We have ploughed every dollar back into the business over the last 3 years, and are not even paying ourselves minimum wage yet (which obviously can’t continue forever) and so we will be adding new styles as quickly as we can. This is a passion project and we really are going as fast as we can.

Plain colours so that they can be matched with the patterned garments – We are awaiting pricing from our suppliers as we speak. They very rarely get plain saris in any quantity and so they are looking to source new fabric. Given your feedback about how important the recycling element is, I guess you will let us know if this is acceptable if done in a small way by those same small, artisan suppliers.

Pure silk range – We have wanted to do this from day one, but it is significantly more expensive. We are going to run a small trial in a couple of colours focused on a few existing styles to see how they go.

More of a range for bigger sizes – Currently the only product not offered in the biggest size is the Tunic, and that’s because we are stopping that line. You may not realise but we get charged significantly more for the bigger sizes, in fact it can be as much as 50% more than the small size. We made a call that we don’t want to charge people more based on size, as we don’t think it’s fair, but it does limit what we have available to invest in a wider range in those biggest sizes.

More of a range for smaller sizes, and taller people, shorter people – Yep it’s tricky trying to please everyone that’s for sure 😊

Cheaper prices – Okay I admit only a handful of people said this, but here’s the thing. We set up this business to run ethically, and we are not going to screw down our suppliers who are tiny businesses themselves, so that we can have cheap garments. If you want cheap, then there are some well known brands that happily use sweatshops to get their prices low, that’s not us.

We are also based in New Zealand and it is expensive to get deliveries here, and then to ship it elsewhere. For example, a parcel to the USA on average costs us $44, if that person gets free shipping, we still have to pay it! Similarly, the UK costs more and even NZ costs on average $7.40.

So there you have it. Plenty of ideas for us for the future and overall we're all very pleased with how things are going. Thanks to everyone who took the time out to complete the survey.😊
